Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad unveiled and garlanded the photograph of Peter Newmark (1916-2011) and paid his tribute on the occasion of the commemoration of Late Peter Newmark. An Informal discussion took place on the contribution of Newmark to Translation Studies, Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, January 5, 2012.

2009-2010

  1. National Workshop on 'Translation and Pedagogy' was jointly organized by Centre for Comparative Literature and the Centre for ALTS during November 19-21, 2009.

  2. Joint '31st All India Conference of Linguists' (AICL 2009) and International Conference in Natural Language Processing (ICON 2009) was held during December 15-17, 2009 in collaboration with Linguistic Society of India (LSI), Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad.

  3. Two-day Workshop on 'Assessing Knowledge Text Translations in Regional Languages: Telugu' (with special reference to History and Physics) was organized by the Centre and the National Translation Mission (NTM), CIIL, Mysore during January 28-29, 2010.

  4. Lecture: 'Acousto-Mechanotronics of Human Language Acquisition and Communication' by Prof. Varanasi Ramabrahmam, KM Centre for PG Studies, Pondicherry, February 19, 2010.
